Celebrate Woodinville Summer Festival

Not really a one day or one weekend event, this festival spans across the summer. Head to Wilmot Gateway Park in Downtown Woodinville for wine, beer, music, and food, and enjoy the warm weather while you hang out with friends or make some new ones. These free, family-friendly events are a lot of fun!

KLA HA YA DAYS


JULY 17-21, 2019 ● SNOHOMISH, WA

This festival is the heart of Snohomish summer events. There’s a parade with so many incredible groups going through. This year there will also be a talent show!

Enjoy classic carnival games and rides at Harvey Field or get your energy out at the river run 5k.

A Carnival

Davis Shows Northwest will once again be present  in town with their thrilling and heart stopping carnival rides. 

July 25th, Thursday, 4:00pm-11:00pm

  • July 26th, Friday, 12:00pm-midnight

  • July 27th, Saturday, 10:00am-midnight

  • July 28th, Sunday, 10:00am-5:00pm

There are quite a few activities on the lake. Lake Stevens can boast that we have the largest lake in Snohomish County. Events include Stand Up Paddle Boarding, Wakeboarding and Water Skiing Competitions, Boat Parade, two parts of the Quadrathon and a few more. The Ultimate Christmas Experience: And It’s Free!

 

My family decided we wanted to experience Snowflake lane for real this year. We, accidentally, caught the end of the parade last year, and I knew the kids would love it.

Well, as you know, December is a busy time of year! Between all the Christmas shopping (thank goodness for Amazon), the Christmas shows and plays that your kids are in, and the holiday parties, there is hardly a moment to spare.

It was the weekend before Christmas before we knew it… BAM. The LAST opportunity to see the parade.

Check the weather: 90% chance of rain. Perfect! We’re tough. We’ll bring umbrellas. It might even keep the crowds down.

You hear parking can be a nightmare. We have a solution for that too! The parade didn’t start until 7pm. We decided we’d do some last minute Christmas shopping in Bellevue Square and go out to dinner before the parade. Perfect!

 

This is how the day REALLY went down.

✅ We arrived early afternoon and found excellent parking in the Bellevue Square sparking garage

❌Walking around the mall was literally shoulder to shoulder. I’m lucky I didn’t lose a child.

❌The fastest restaurant wait time was 90 minutes.

✅While the line was 45 minutes long at Panda Express, they totally rocked it and got people through the line as fast as they could.

❌Because getting food took longer than expected we didn’t get to the street early enough.

❌The rain hindered no one. It was POURING.

❌Adults stood in front of children, making it impossible for my kids to see.

✅Random stranger gave us his umbrella! There are kind people out there!

✅It’s not really real snow falling from the sky. It’s soap! It was definitely magical.

❌I wish I could tell you how the parade was, but I couldn’t see very well.

 

Tips, Tricks, and Secrets to have a Magical Experience

  1. Don’t procrastinate. Head to a parade early in December on a weeknight. I wen’t on a Saturday night…. NEVER AGAIN!

  2. Arrive by 5pm and get good parking

  3. Don’t plan on eating dinner there unless you make a reservation

  4. Plan to be cold and wear rain gear

  5. Head to the street early to claim a good spot

  6. Have a meetup spot in case you get separated

 

Will I Go Back Next Year?

Of course I will. Yes, I did it all wrong. But, I know what NOT to do and will make seeing this parade a family tradition. I hope you do too!

Parade 2018

The Kla Ha Ya Days Festival (KHYDF) is a nonprofit organization that produces an annual local festival, to welcome people throughout Northwest Washington to celebrate the community's beauty, and goodwill of Snohomish. Proceeds from the KHYDF's activities support Snohomish-based community organizations with programs and services for youth and families.
 

 

What an awesome kick off to Kla Ha Ya Days. The parade was fantastically well run, and had a lot of fun entries.  (watch the video above)

I parked over on Maple and watched the tail end of it. I thought it was the perfect spot. Easy walk back to my car, although there were some REALLY close parking options as you got closer that were only $10. We were near a ton of great booths. I even won a free Microdermabrasion from a raffle entry from Mary Kay! Saaweeet! 

Looking forward to going next year and trying out the carnival.
